Tabea Kind

Tabea Kind is a versatile bassist, composer, and educator currently based in Cologne. Born in 1999 in Karlsruhe, she discovered her passion for music early on. She pursued her Bachelor's degree in Music Pedagogy in Freiburg (DE), graduating in 2022. During her studies, Tabea broadened her musical horizons with an Erasmus exchange to Bern. Continuing her educational journey, Tabea completed her Master's degree at Jazzcampus in Basel and graduated in 2024. Throughout her academic career, she had the privilege of studying under renowned mentors such as Larry Grenadier, Patrice Moret, Bänz Oester, Filippa Gojo, Dieter Ilg, Jorge Rossy, and other influential figures from the jazz community. Tabea is an active participant in the music scenes of Switzerland and Germany, contributing her playing to various projects. She leads her own trio (“Fragments“, 2024, „Dialogue Poetry“ expected 2026) and collaborates with diverse ensembles including Aerie, Aino Salto, Emmanuelle Bonnet Quartett, Ocell oder RENNER. Her performances have taken her across Europe to renowned festivals and venues. Driven by her passion for music and commitment to her craft, Tabea Kind continues to explore new avenues in bass performance, composition, and music education, enriching both her own artistic journey and the vibrant music communities she engages with. Tabea Kind teaches double bass at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg (DE). In 2026 she is awarded the Baden-Württemberg Jazz Award. She also won the ZMF-Jazzprize 2026 and 1st Prize of the International Jazzaward Burghausen (with RENNER).
