Queer Pianist- Composer Filippo Deorsola presents Anaphora, a trio that “switches and mixes several genres and rhythms in an incredibly mastered and enjoyable way” [Best of Jazz, US]. With their new album [Bloom], Anaphora brews a kaleidoscopic musical potion centred around the preparation of the piano with wooden objects altering the sound of the instrument. A condensate of percussive and textural influences from Balinese gamelan where driven themes and hypnotic grooves intertwine with subtlety. A polyphonic exercise in dreaming out sounds and sounding out dreams, [Bloom] reveals itself to be a singularly athletic hybrid between jazz and non-European rhythmic traditions. An athletic criss-cross between jazz and non-european musical traditions centered around wood-based piano preparation, Anaphora explores the power within the collective process of dreaming out sounds and sounding out dreams.
